Tailored opportunities: PhD candidate in hydrological modeling at Wageningen University, the Netherlands

A PhD candidate Hydrological modelling to successfully carry out the PhD project “Quantifying the Human Factor in Hydrological Predictions”. Hydrological models are indispensable tools to support decision making. Models are, however, not completely objective. Modellers make many decisions, both conscious and unconscious, during the selection and configuration of a hydrological model, that will eventually influence the model results. In this project, the impact of modelling decisions will be investigated and quantified, using modular modelling frameworks.

A completed MSc in hydrology, atmospheric sciences, (environmental) physics, (civil) engineering or related fields and affinity with working with models and large data sets. Strong quantitative (programming) and communication skills (written and oral) are a prerequisite, as well as affinity with teaching and working with (BSc and MSc) students.

Deadline for application is November 3, 2019.
