Tailored opportunities: Call for proposals by the International Foundation for Sciences

What?

The International Foundation for Science (IFS) is requesting proposals for the 2020 call for Basic Research Grants (up to 15 000 USD) and Renewal Grants (up to 12 000 USD). Applicants who have not received an IFS grant before can apply for the Basic Research Grant. IFS grantees can apply for the Renewal Grant. IFS supports research in the natural and social sciences that is innovative and/or relevant to local or national development needs and problems, and that aim to generate fundamental and/or applicable scientific knowledge. Applications must be written in English.

Who?

Applicants for IFS grants:

  • must be citizens of eligible countries (see below), and must carry out their research in an eligible country (which does not have to be the country of citizenship), and
  • must either be enrolled in a PhD program or have recently (within five years) completed a PhD degree.
  • must write their proposals in English
