Current research topics of our group include karst hydrogeology, hydrological tracing techniques, groundwater modeling and water-quality monitoring.
The principal goal of the two PhD theses is the quantification of groundwater resources and the development of a hydrogeological conceptual model, as well as the characterization of the highly variable hydrochemical and microbiological water quality in a geologically complex karst aquifer system in the Italian Apennine mountains. The two theses are part of a joint research project on the availability and quality of karst water resources in the Mediterranean area, which is coordinated at KIT and funded in the framework of the „Partnership for Research an Innovation in the Mediterranean Area“ (PRIMA).
